The SPARC is an annual, voluntary, continuous improvement process where schools create a short, easy-to-read report identifying key career and college readiness student outcomes achieved through Student Support Team contributions and collaborative work.
Schools use SPARCs to show school boards, community partners, parents, and other stakeholders the success of their Student Support System. Examples of Student Support Team student outcome successes:
-
At Monterey Trail High School, guidance lessons assist students in identifying their values, skills, interests, and potential occupations. Using this information, students develop viable postsecondary plans, zeroing in on the best postsecondary options for them. One hundred percent of Monterey’s students graduated high school with a plan in hand, ready to take their next steps.
-
At Esperanza Elementary School, 80 percent of sixth grade students completed California CareerZone
career and college exploration modules learning how to match their interests with occupations, occupational characteristics, including the education needed to enter the occupation, and the connection between earnings and lifestyle choices.
-
Richmond High School requires every student, with a few exceptions, to complete a Career Technical Education pathway. This strategy helped Richmond reach a 98 percent graduation rate!
SPARC also gives Student Support Teams a conduit for sharing program and contact information with other schools' Student Support Teams.
