Quick Guide to Postsecondary Education and Training

After high school, students have a variety of options to gain the skills and knowledge necessary to be successful in the work of work.

For students wanting to enter the workforce right away may want to explore entering an apprenticeship program or visit their local America’s Job Center of California to learn about nearby training programs. They can also explore the option of Private Career and Technical Schools which can provide training quickly but tend to be expensive.

Military careers are one way for students to get the training and education they need without the expense because the Military provides many training and education options. Any student interested in joining the military will need to complete the ASVAB assessment. Test results will include the Armed Forces Qualification Test (AFQT) score, which is very important because it will determine whether you can join the military service of your choice and which military jobs will be open to you.
